Book Tour - Hallowed Ground by Rebecca Yarros

I'm excited to be one of today's stops on Rebecca Yarros' Hallowed Ground Book Tour. Read on for info about the book, an excerpt, my review and an awesome giveaway!

There are some debts you can’t repay.

Josh Walker is loyal, reckless, and every girl’s dream. But he only has eyes for December Howard, the girl he's craved since his high school hockey days. Together they have survived grief, the military, distance, and time as they’ve fought for stolen weekends between his post at Ft. Rucker and her college at Vanderbilt. Now that Josh is a medevac pilot and Ember is headed toward graduation, they’re moving on—and in—together.

Ember never wanted the Army life, but loving Josh means accepting whatever the army dictates—even when that means saying goodbye as Josh heads to Afghanistan, a country that nearly killed him once before and that took her father. But filling their last days together with love, passion, and plans for their future doesn’t temper Ember’s fear, and if there’s one thing she’s learned from her father’s death, it’s that there are some obstacles even love can’t conquer.

Flight school is over.

This is war.

I pushed my chair out and reached for her, lifting her tiny, curved frame into my lap. Her head tucked beneath my chin, and she curled into me, fitting right where she was always meant to be. My arms closed around her. “We have a month.”
“It’s not long enough.” Her fingers gripped my shirt like she could keep me here if she just held on tight enough. God, what I wouldn’t have given to stay with her.
“Forever isn’t long enough for us, December, but that’s what we’re going to have. You and I have never chosen the easy path. This is just another hurdle.” I rubbed my chin over her soft hair and tried to soak in every detail of holding her—the sweet way she smelled, the smooth texture of her skin beneath my hands.
She leaned back in my arms and cupped my face. “I can’t lose you.” Her voice broke, and tears pooled in her eyes.
I’d never hated myself more than I did in that moment. She’d made it through a nightmare no one should have to face, and I was about to ask her to chance that fire again. My breath hitched, barely passing the lump in my throat. “You won’t. It would take something a hell of a lot stronger than a war to keep me from you.”
I sealed that promise with a kiss, tasting her fear and desperation as she responded. She opened underneath me, and I fused my mouth to hers, surrendering to the heat between us to pull us through this moment. There was nothing hotter or sweeter in this world than kissing December, feeling her go soft and pliant.
We’d fought so f***g hard to get here, to be together. This wasn’t fair, and we both knew it. But we also both knew it didn’t matter. Fair wasn’t exactly in the U.S. Army vocabulary.
I retreated just enough to whisper against her lips, “I’ll come home. I swear it.”

I thought I was blown away by the three previous books in the Flight & Glory series, but that was nothing compared to what Hallowed Ground did to me. Rebecca Yarros has crafted a story that will tug on your heart strings from the beginning and it will stay with you long after you finish reading. The emotions in Hallowed Ground are so strong that you will be feeling everything Josh and Ember are feeling. Every struggle, every pain, every joy. Be prepared to FEEL! If you haven't yet met Josh, Ember and friends, I urge you to pick up all the books in the serious. I highly recommend them. You can't go wrong!

Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and lover of all things chocolate, coffee, and Paleo. In addition to being a mom, military wife, and blogger, she can never choose between Young Adult and New Adult fiction, so she writes both. She's a graduate of Troy University, where she studied European history and English, but still holds out hope for an acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Her blog, The Only Girl Among Boys, has been voted the Top Military Mom Blog the last two years, and celebrates the complex issues surrounding the military life she adores. When she's not writing, she's tying on hockey skates for her kids, or sneaking in some guitar time. She is madly in love with her army-aviator husband of eleven years. They finally can call Colorado home along with their gaggle of rambunctious kiddos and snoring English Bulldog.

Book Tour - Defenseless by Corinne Michaels

Welcome to my stop on the book tour for Corinne Michaels' Defenseless. I loved this book and I'm super excited for everyone to experience Mark & Charlie's story. Read on for details about the book, an excerpt and my review.

My life is a secret.

His life is dangerous.

We’re both stubborn, calculating, and controlling.

Mark Dixon doesn’t know what he’s getting into. He doesn’t know his games could cost us our lives. I have to do what is necessary to keep us alive, and that means guarding my heart.

But I know I’m defenseless against him, and in the end, he’ll force me to surrender.

“I made you a promise, Charlie.” Mark’s already deep voice is layered with desire.
Once again, my control begins to slip. “What’s that?”
His hands drop a little lower beside my head. His lower body shifts so his knee is between my legs. I feel his arousal against my thigh.
My traitorous body shows its own awakening. My nipples hardening through the silk material don’t go unnoticed. Heat pools in my core and my breath hitches. I want him. There’s no use denying it.
“I told you I’d kiss you again. If you don’t stop me now, there’s no getting away.”
I should stop him. I need to stop him. There’s no way in hell it’s going to happen, though. I’m craving his lips again.
He gives me one second before he crushes his mouth against mine. His entire body shifts forward, and now I’m trapped. There’s nowhere to go. Nowhere to move that’s not Mark. He takes every part of my mind and body. Our hands roam each other as his tongue slides against mine. Passion ignites between us; it sets the room on fire. His fingers cup my neck and then glide down the front of my dress. His hand brands my skin as he takes his time exploring the open skin between us.
My fingers grip the lapels of his tux, holding him, molding him to me. I can’t get close enough. Our mouths stay fused as we both lose control.
Then my mind snaps.
I push back and my hands fly to my lips. They’re swollen, bruised from the force of the kiss. His hands brace against the wall. I keep my eyes downcast. I can’t believe I just did that, against the damn wall, at a ball commemorating my father.
I shift my dress, rake my fingers through my hair, and pull myself together.
“Charlie . . .” Mark finally speaks. It sounds like shouting even though it’s only loud enough for us to hear.
“That was the last time that will ever happen,” I say with no tremor to my voice. “Tonight we become partners. It’s not about whatever this is.” I shift my hands between us. “It’s about finding the information we’re both searching for.”
“And what if we find something else?”
“We shut it down. There’s no room for feelings in this world.”
Mark pushes back, giving me space. I instantly feel cold. “Okay, then. Have it your way.”
This is what I wanted, what we both need, but suddenly I wish it wasn’t. I wish I could pull him close, kiss him, f**k him, and just feel.
But wishes are for little girls.

Corinne Michaels has outdone herself with Defenseless. Already in love with her work from previous books, I was very excited to read Mark and Charlie's story. Funny, sexy, willing to do anything for his friends, Mark is one of those characters that you can't help but love. Charlie surprised me with how much I loved her. I love when the heroines are strong and can handle crazy, stressful, dangerous situations on their own. Put Mark and Charlie together and you've got one awesome book that will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. If you haven't read a Corinne Michaels book, then I highly recommend Defenseless and, when you're hooked, check out her other works. You will not be disappointed.

Cover Reveal - Wherever It Leads by Adriana Locke

Check out the awesome cover for Wherever It Leads by Adriana Locke! Kari March Designs did an awesome job of it. I'm so excited for this book to release on February 15th! And be sure to enter the giveaway for the chance at an advanced copy!

Smooth. Sexy. Irresistible.

Those qualities equal only one thing.

Big. Freaking. Trouble.

Brynne Calloway knows that anything that seems too good to be true usually is. Fenton Abbott and his cashmere voice, Adonis body, and a magnetism like no other clearly falls into that category. But what’s life without a little risk?

It was supposed to be a rebound, an uncomplicated escape from reality. But nothing ever goes as planned. Fenton turns out to be so much more … in ways Brynne never sees coming.

I pull out a cute emerald green dress. I brought a bright yellow bikini that would look really cute under it. Tossing my things around in the suitcase, I come up empty handed. Staring at my luggage, I realize I don't see any of the five bikinis I brought.

Dashing into the closet, I look on the rack where I hung the red one up from yesterday.

Gone.

"That f***er."

"Who?"

I spin around to see Fenton leaning against the doorframe. His blue tie is loose, his jacket missing, his hair a mussed-up, yummy mess.

"The thief," I say, hands on my hips, trying to hide my desire to wrap my legs around his waist and kiss the hell out of him.

"We have a thief?" He watches me with complete sincerity, like he has no clue what I'm talking about.

"We do. And he seems to have a penchant for my bikinis."

"Huh."

"Yeah," I say, traipsing over to him. "And nobody likes a thief."

"You know what else nobody likes?" He shoves off the frame and wraps his hands around my waist, lacing his fingers together in the dip at the small of my back. "Girls that can't listen."

"I’ve never been a good listener,” I sigh dramatically. “I just make things happen ... like when my bikinis get stolen, I just call the concierge and have them bring me another one up. Something skimpy and very, very sexy.”

He smacks my ass, making me yelp.

“And I charged it to your room since you stole my others. Thief."

“Did you really have them bring you another one?” he chuckles, a sinful smirk on his face. He’s trying to figure out how to handle me, yet still get his way.

“No,” I give in, as his lips find the crook of my neck. “But I hadn’t ruled it out.”

"You're going to make me crazy, you know that?"

He brushes his lips to mine and, in a split second, has me forgetting all about the bikinis. I’m focused solely on getting him out of his suit.

Blog Tour & Giveaway - Aced by K. Bromberg

So excited to be a part of the blog tour for Aced. This book is an amazing addition to Colton and Rylee's story! Check out my short, but heartfelt, spoiler-free review and be sure to enter the giveaway!

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]

Rylee and Colton's ride continues... One moment. Six years ago.

The night she made the world around me so much more than just a blur. Now it's the catalyst that threatens to tear us apart. Our happily was supposed to be ever after. So why do I feel like it's slipping through my fingers? How can one moment, when our world seemed so right, resurface and cause our perfect life to spiral out of control? I can't lose her. She's my checkered flag.

Have you ever read a book that you loved so much that it's almost impossible to express? That's how I feel after reading Aced. K. Bromberg has brought a whole new level of emotion to Colton and Rylee's journey. With every turn of the page I was feeling every joy, every struggle and every pain right along with them. It will take you places that you would never expect. While Aced will take your emotions through the wringer, it is one of the best "what happens after happily-ever-after" stories I have read. And even though it's only January it definitely sits up at the top of my list as one of the best books I've read this year. I highly recommend you add it, as well as the rest of the Colton and Rylee's story, to your MUST READ list. You won't regret it!

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love. She’s a mixture of most of her female characters: sassy, intelligent, stubborn, reserved, outgoing, driven, emotional, strong, and wears her heart on her sleeve. All of which she displays daily with her husband and three children where they live in Southern California. On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Since then she has written The Driven Series (Driven, Fueled, Crashed, Raced), the standalone Driven Novels (Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, Hard Beat, Aced, and a short story titled UnRaveled. She is currently working on new projects and a few surprises for her readers. She loves to hear from her readers so make sure you check her out on social media.
