Review - Legend by Katy Evans

I really can't say enough about Legend. It's only February, but it is one of my favorite books I've read so far this year. Check out the details and my review and then run out and pick up Legend and the other books in the Real series today.

Maverick “the Avenger” Cage wants to rise to the top and become a legend in the ring. Though he keeps his identity well guarded, he's known on the fighting circuit as the new kid with a chip on his shoulder and a tattoo on his back that marks him as trouble. He's got a personal score to settle with the Underground's one and only Remington "Riptide" Tate.
As Mav trains, he meets a young girl—the only other new person in the town--and sparks fly. When things get heated between them, he finds out she's none other than Reese Dumas, the cousin of Remington Tate’s wife. A girl who's supposed to root against him and a girl he's supposed to stay away from.
But Maverick fights for the woman in his heart, and the monsters in his blood. The world’s eyes are on them and the victor will go down in history as the ultimate fighting champion; the ultimate LEGEND.

* LEGEND is the 6th and final installment of the REAL series, but it can also be read as standalone or after the three Remington and Brooke books (Real/Mine/Remy.)

Remy, Remy, Remy! Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way. LOL When Katy first announced that she was going to be writing Legend, but hadn’t said who it was about, I totally thought it was going to be a book about Racer. I don’t know why, it’s just a thought that popped in to my head. When she released that the book was going to be about Maverick, I was intrigued. And I was not at all disappointed. Ever since I read REAL and met Remy, I didn’t think I could love any of Katy’s characters as much as him. Boy was I wrong. Maverick certainly gave him a run for the money and they are close to being tied in my book!
Legend is the perfect final book for the REAL series. Not only do we learn about the mysterious Maverick and his ties to the Underground, we also get to learn about Reese. She definitely surprised me! There were things about her that I wasn’t expecting when they were revealed. And being able to get a glimpse into Remy’s life with Brooke and Racer was just the icing on the cake.

Without going in to detail, because you want to learn these things on your own, Maverick will draw you in with his determination to get what he wants despite the road blocks in his way. There’s a lot to be said about never giving up on what you want!

Review - Set The Pace by Kim Karr

I bring you my review of Kim Karr's Set The Pace today. I've never been disappointed by a Kim Karr book. I definitely recommend it and any of Kim's other works.

Every city needs a hero, but Detroit's white knight just might be a villain.
A rough childhood branded Jasper Storm trouble. A bad boy. Not worth a damn. His love of cars was the only thing that could battle his delinquency. With the need for speed in his blood, he overcame his wayward ways. Mostly. All grown up, the broken city of Detroit hails him their shining star. And the man behind a new cutting-edge automobile is ready to turn this bankrupt town around.

Everything he does in life is fast. He talks fast, f*cks fast, and drives fast. But when one reckless turn brings him face-to-face with the childhood he has tried very hard to forget, he finds himself on the edge of wondering if he shouldn't slow down.

Charlotte Lane was the tomboy who lived next door. She was his best friend. He was her protector. Then tragedy struck and she disappeared, forever--or so he thought.
Jasper has many reasons to hate Charlotte and keep his distance, but she's infiltrating his every thought and he can't stay away. Back in town with an agenda of her own, she should push him aside. Make him turn around. Walk away herself. Yet she can't.

With the past lurking between them, they proceed with caution. That is until one sex-filled night leads to murder. When Detroit's biggest ally suddenly becomes suspect number one, will Charlotte--the girl Jasper once kept safe--be the one to save him?

Where to start, where to start? I went in to Set The Pace without really knowing anything about the storyline or plot. I just knew it was a novel by Kim Karr and that it was a duet. As I’ve enjoyed every novel I’ve read of Kim’s, I knew it would be good. And boy was it. From the gripping prologue to the surprising ending, Set The Pace will take you on a wild ride. Jasper and Charlotte’s story as childhood friends reuniting is filled with interesting twists and turns. I’m excited to see where Kim takes us next!

Kim is a daydreamer. So much so that if daydreaming could be a hobby it would be her favorite. It's how her stories are born and how they take root. An imagination that runs wild is something to be thankful for, and she is very thankful. :)

She grew up in New York and now lives in Florida with her husband and four kids. She's always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, she wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. She went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise her family. Kim currently works part-time with her husband and with the rest of her time embraces one of her biggest passions--writing.

Kim wears a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of her family. However, she always finds time to read.

Review - Come Away With Me by Karma Brown

I've got a review of Come Away With Me by Karma Brown for you today. This book blew me away in a way that I wasn't expecting!

An unexpected journey leads one woman to find hope and healing in the most unlikely places…
Tegan Lawson has everything she could hope for: an adoring husband, Gabe, and a baby on the way. But suddenly, her life is irreversibly changed when a patch of black ice causes a devastating accident.
Just when Tegan is on the verge of hitting rock bottom, Gabe reminds her of their Jar of Spontaneity, a collection of their dream destinations and experiences. And so begins an extraordinary adventure of a lifetime. From the colorful, bustling markets of Thailand to the rich flavors of Italy to the azure ocean waves in Hawaii, Tegan and Gabe embark on a journey in search of forgiveness and renewal. And as they explore the cultures and beautiful landscapes of these faraway places, they learn that acceptance often comes when we least expect it. Heartbreaking, hopeful and utterly transporting, Come Away with Me is an unforgettable debut and a luminous celebration of the strength of the human spirit.

This book has been sitting on my TBR pile for a while and I was finally in the right mood to read it. I was expecting an emotional read, but I wasn’t expecting quite the one that I got. It tells the story of Tegan and Gabe and their journey to recover after a horrific accident that changes their lives completely. Told in the present with flashbacks to the past, Come Away With Me is a story of heartbreak and recovery and with a twist that will leave you reeling. I’m having trouble just writing this review thinking about it. It’s a book that will stay with you long after you finish reading, cause you to feel all kinds of emotion, but will leave you feeling hopeful. I highly recommend reading this debut novel from Karma Brown and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from her.

KARMA BROWN is an award-winning journalist and freelance writer, who probably spends too much time on her laptop in coffee shops. When not writing, she can be found running with her husband, coloring (outside the lines) with her daughter, or baking yet another batch of banana muffins. Karma lives just outside Toronto with her family.

Release Boost & Giveaway - Wherever It Leads by Adriana Locke

Hi there! I'm so excited to be a part of the release boost for Wherever It Leads! I can't tell you enough how much I loved this book. You can read my review here

Smooth. Sexy. Irresistible.

Those qualities equal only one thing.

Big. Freaking. Trouble.

Brynne Calloway knows that anything that seems too good to be true usually is. Fenton Abbott and his cashmere voice, Adonis body, and a magnetism like no other clearly falls into that category. But what’s life without a little risk?

It was supposed to be a rebound, an uncomplicated escape from reality. But nothing ever goes as planned. Fenton turns out to be so much more … in ways Brynne never sees coming.

The blankets rip away and Presley jumps off the side. "You need to be more instinctive. Fenton is not going to give you swoon regret."

"Swoon regret? Seriously?"

"It happens," she sighs. "I swooned over this rocker guy once. Hot and sexy and a voice—not cashmere, but more like whiskey—and in the morning, I regretted my swoon. He wasn't that cute in the daylight and he had a smoker's cough, two things I didn't see in the strobe lights of the bar.”

Laughing, I climb out of bed, too. "Want to watch a movie?"

"Let's order Italian and watch Netflix."

"I’m not really hungry. Just get me some breadsticks."

“Is that some Freudian slip?” Presley laughs.

“Probably,” I say, shaking my head and realizing I might be a little more affected than I even realize.

To The Stars - Tour Banner

We are so excited to bring you the Review & Excerpt Tour for Molly McAdams’ TO THE STARS! TO THE STARS is a contemporary romance novel being published by HarperCollins’ William Morrow Impulse imprint and is the second novel in Molly’s Thatch Series.

To The Stars   In the second standalone book in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Molly McAdams’ Thatch series, Knox Alexander must convince his long-time love Harlow Evans that they’re meant to be together. He promised to wait for her. She told him he was wasting his time. Not waiting for him ended up being the biggest mistake of her life. When they were younger, Knox Alexander swore to Harlow Evans that he would wait for her to turn eighteen so they could be together. But that was two and a half years away, and Harlow couldn’t ask him to give up all the fun and thrills of going away to college for her. As the years passed, Knox remained a constant in her life but when her eighteenth birthday came around, Harlow’s heart belonged to someone else. Every day for the last four years, Harlow has been haunted by that fateful choice. And though he may appear unaffected by what happened in their past, Knox has always tried to fill the void Harlow left. But when he comes stumbling back into her life and refuses to leave, will Harlow finally let him into her heart…?

“I just had to see her.”
Both of them sat there staring at me like they didn’t know what to do with me anymore. “Why?” Graham finally asked. “Why, Knox? This can only go bad for you. You have to be able to see that, you’re not blind, man.”
“I love—”
“Don’t!” He cut me off. “Just stop. The way you talk to her, how often you talk to her, the fact that you went to see her tonight … all of those things are marks against you. Knox, you can go to jail. We can’t let you do that over some girl.”
Deacon didn’t add anything, but he was nodding.
“Dude, you need to stop talking to her, and you need to move on to someone who is at least eighteen.”
I huffed. “To who? Someone like Madison? Someone I can’t stand to be around, but informed me we were dating because she thinks we’re perfect together? I only let it go on because it shut you two up about Harlow!” I ran my hands over my face and groaned. “Look, I know you two hate the thought of Harlow, but I love her. That’s it; I love her.”
“But you can’t,” Deacon reminded me.
I kept talking like he hadn’t. “Throughout everything since middle school we have all been there for each other, and it is such bullshit that my best friends have turned on me now. Okay, yeah, I thought we were going to come to Seattle and party all the time and hook up with as many girls as possible. I know that was the plan. I know the plan wasn’t to get serious until after college, but screw the f***ing plans! I met Harlow and I knew immediately that she was it. It wasn’t that I just wanted her; I needed her. I get that it isn’t the best situation, trust me, no one gets that more than I do; but I don’t need both of you making this that much harder for both of us! Harlow knows you both hate her. How do you think that makes her feel? How do you think that makes me feel? What would it be like for you, Graham, if Deacon and I hated the girl you were in love with?”
Graham looked like he was about to yell, but took a calming breath and said, “You aren’t understanding that you can’t be in love with her. Jesus Christ, Knox, Harlow is a child!”
My eyes narrowed. “That’s disgusting, don’t do that.”
“She is! You think of Grey as a little kid, and they’re the same age.”
“Grey isn’t as mature as Harlow. Harlow has spent her entire life with people our age; she doesn’t fit in with people her age. She doesn’t think or act like a sixteen-year-old. And no one has thought of Grey as a little kid since she got tits when she was twelve, Graham, get over it.”
“That’s true,” Deacon murmured.

Laughter. Tears. Anxiety. All the signs that you're reading a Molly McAdams' book! Knox, Knox, Knox. He is a yummy firefighter who is determined to help Harlow fight her monsters. Harlow is the woman he has loved for years, despite her choosing to be with someone else. Toss in a crazy person and some well-meaning friends and you have a story that you won't be able to put down. I certainly couldn't. I would definitely recommend To The Stars. It's another great book from Molly McAdams that will take your emotions through the wringer because they jump write off the page and you can't help but feel right along with Knox and Harlow!

When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm ... or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

It all started with bananas. And then there were the bikinis. Curious? You'll need to pick up the book!

I have yet to read an Adriana Locke book that I haven't absolutely loved. Wherever It Leads is no exception. From the first page, I was hooked. Fenton is absolutely swoon-worthy. You'll have a hard time not falling for him. The chemistry between him and Brynne is off the charts hot! Brynne definitely surprised me. I usually tend to like the heroes more than the heroines in the books I read. Wherever It Leads is one where I can certainly say that I loved Brynne as much as I loved Fenton. She is strong, sassy and determined that this thing with Fenton was no strings attached and just a fun interlude. Toss in some mystery that surprised me, an awesome best friend and you have one fabulous book. I definitely recommend it!
