Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway - Debt Inheritance (Indebted #1) by Pepper Winters

“I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It’s undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you’ve paid off your debts.”

Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave.

She has no choice in the matter.

She is no longer free.

Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his twenty-ninth birthday. Her life is his until she’s paid off a debt that’s centuries old. He can do what he likes with her—nothing is out of bounds—she has to obey.
There are no rules.

Only payments.

A modern day Dark Erotic Romance

Meet Jethro & Nila

ONE - Nila's POV

“Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.

My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.

“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.

Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”

TWO - Jethro's POV

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”

I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.

And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted to savour it. Devour it.

Today's review is from my lovely guest reviewer Mandi!

It is no secret how much I love the deeply dark, twisted and delicious mind of Pepper Winters. The woman has this way of writing that keeps me absolutely mesmerized. It doesn’t matter if she’s writing about rape, a man ravished by his past, sex slavery and drugs or a love that is strong enough to overcome anything life throws at it. It is all written so beautifully. This book is no different, the story however is. It is a tough task for an author to write stories that no one else is but Pepper always seems to find a way. I can guarantee you right now that you won’t find a story similar to this anywhere. The picture she paints is almost vintage in its elegance and barbaric nature of the debt, yet still modern. A woman given freely by her family to a man, a very bad man, to repay a century’s old debt? How does she think this stuff up? I am in awe of her.
This is to be a serial, though each book is longer than any serial I have ever read. I can’t go into too much detail for obvious reasons but I will say that Pepper has given us a man to fall in love with who is by far her baddest bad guy to date.
Jethro is dark and broody, sensual and dangerous sometimes all at once putting your senses on overload. I wanted to dislike him. I tried to dislike him because I knew that he wasn’t a good guy, but I couldn’t help but swoon every time he opened his mouth. His words and actions shouldn’t have had the effect on me that they did because they were often times deplorable, laced with violence and danger but with just enough sensuality to have me wrapped around his little finger utterly scandalized and intrigued. What more could you possibly look for in a leading man? I mean, who needs hearts and flowers and pretty words when you can be brought to your knees by a man like Jet? Not I.
Nila (pronounced NEELA. I asked) is a talented clothing designer sheltered from the world by her twin brother and father. Turns out that they had reason to keep her sheltered though no one but her father knows the disparity behind it. Unfortunately for Nila they’ve done her no favors and have left her vulnerable and unable to handle a man like Jethro and his demanding demeanor. She is almost like a fragile bird made unsteady by an illness that she has no control over. A frail bird thrust into a fight or flight situation that she must learn to navigate with obedience, strength and poise if she hopes to survive it, the debt she is too pay off and especially the man collecting on it.
This book will have you on the very edge of your seat from the first word and keep you there until the very end when you’re left wondering what in the feck is wrong with you, with Nila and with Pepper for leaving you longing for more Jethro and all of his sexy, sinister glory.

Spotlight Read - It's In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis

As today's spotlight read, I bring you It's In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis. This is book 10 in Jill's Lucky Harbor series and features Sam and Becca. If you've never read any of Jill's books, I would definitely recommend starting with the Lucky Harbor series. It's funny, sexy and chock-full of yummy men. :)

ONE KISS CAN LAST FOREVER

Becca Thorpe has uprooted her life and escaped to the beach. Now's her chance to get away from city living, throw caution to the ocean winds, and live in the moment. Especially if the moment includes the deliciously sexy surfer she meets shortly after arriving in Lucky Harbor. Something about the dark intensity of Sam's eyes and the thrill she gets at his touch convinces her to stay awhile.

Boatbuilder and investment genius Sam Brody is a self-made man who knows how dangerous it can be to mix business and pleasure. But he can't resist offering Becca a job just to hear her laugh and have her near. Yet when her brother comes to town asking for help, will he tempt her back to her glamorous life in the city? Or do Sam and little Lucky Harbor have a chance to win Becca's heart?

I’m never disappointed when I read a story by Jill Shalvis. It’s In His Kiss is no exception. In the latest installment to her Lucky Harbor series, Jill introduces us to Sam & Becca. Becca is new to Lucky Harbor and is looking for a new beginning. Sam aka “sexy grumpy surfer” runs Lucky Harbor Charters with his friends Cole and Tanner. Drawn to each other, it’s not long before they are unable to resist the pull of attraction. But when Becca hires on as office manager for Lucky Harbor Charters, Sam insists that he doesn’t get involved with employees. Jill has done it again. I couldn’t put It’s In His Kiss down. From the first page, it grabbed me and kept me hooked and wanting to know what was going to happen next. Sam is every inch the sexy grumpy surfer that Becca decides he is and it just makes you love him more. I definitely recommend Becca and Sam’s story to anyone who loves their romances filled with sexy men, laughter, small town gossips and great story.

New York Times Bestselling author Jill Shalvis wrote RESCUE MY HEART and FOREVER AND A DAY, along with many other romance novels including her acclaimed Lucky Harbor series. The Rita winner and 3-time National Readers Choice winner makes her home near Lake Tahoe.

Fly Week Day 3 - Fly by T.A. Foster

FLY_WEEK

We are gearing up for the release of FLY by T.A. Foster. If you enjoy a hot romance, which just might feature a Fighter Pilot with United States Marine Corps, this is the book for you! Today we are highlighting the romance in the book.

Romance Wednesday

I’m not sure about everyone else, but I know the reason I like to read and write love stories is for the romance. All those little moments that bring two characters together—the glances, the quippy dialogue, the thoughtful gestures that melt my heart. You know, the ones that make you sigh out loud. You probably know by now Fly has some personal elements for me. I married a Marine fighter pilot who was living in San Diego and stationed at Miramar. I was incredibly lucky to have my own private consultant while I was writing.

Hot young couple kissing outside on the stairs.

The romance problem I had with the main character, Ben, was that he was a love ‘em and leave ‘em type, so finding a way to make him romantic was a challenge. For that, I drew on some personal experience.

Marriage Having Erotic Moment

Some of my absolute favorite dates in San Diego with my then-fiance’, where in the Gaslamp district, at the Hotel del Coronado, and walking the beaches of Coronado. By sneaking some of those ideas in I was able to work romance into a storyline that started out as a very physical connection between two unlikely people. I can’t give it all away, but there are ways that romance develops between these two that I think will surprise you, make you smile, and hopefully make you sigh out loud.

Fly Week Day 2 - Fly by T.A. Foster

If you enjoy a hot romance, which just might feature a Fighter Pilot with United States Marine Corps, FLY by T.A. Foster is the book for you!

Today we are highlighting the beautiful setting in the book.

As I started writing Fly, I knew instantly what part of the country I wanted to portray in the story: San Diego. When I first met my husband I was living in College Station, TX and he was a fighter pilot at Miramar in San Diego, CA. On trips to visit him I was able to experience all of the fun and touristy parts of the city such as the San Diego Zoo, Mission Bay, Balboa Park, and my all-time favorite, the Hotel del Coronado. The city was gorgeous. Every view was filled with tropical flowers, the ocean, and terrain I never had back home. It was hard not to feel the romance the city offered. Eventually, we were engaged and I moved to San Diego. Living in the city gave me a new perspective on the place I had fallen in love with. While Fly isn’t the story of our romance, it does hold some personal insight into the seaside town. Fly was the perfect way to incorporate the single and wild life of a pilot with the beauty and fun of the city.

Bolt needed to live somewhere near a fighter pilot base. I thought of some of the East Coast military bases, but they didn’t offer the nightlife and corporate world I needed for Skye. San Diego was the perfect blend of professional, military, and recreational outlets I needed to work into the story. Where else could they catch a professional baseball game, walk on the beach, and hit the hottest clubs all in the same week? I think Bolt and Skye could fall for each other no matter where they met, but having the story in San Diego added romance I couldn’t capture anywhere else.

“Where are you from?” Ah, an actual question. That means I can ask one back. “Nebraska, toward the South Dakota and Wyoming side, if that helps.” “I’ve never met anyone from there.” Michigan was a long way from home. “I usually get ‘not in Nebraska anymore’ jokes, and then I have to decide if I’m going to remind them that’s Kansas or play along.” “What do you usually do?” “Play along.” “You don’t like conflict, huh?” He sounded normal tonight, as if talking to me wasn’t an unpleasant chore anymore. That was a relief since I’d come to look forward to these moments with him so much. More, maybe, than I’d like to admit.Right. Friends. I distracted myself by considering his question. “Not if it can be avoided. I’m not what you’d call pugnacious, no. But I like to think I don’t back off important issues. What about you?” “No.” His voice was bleak and quiet. “I don’t. Even when I should.” Wow, that took a dark turn. If I could’ve jumped onto his patio without breaking an ankle or waking Sam, I’d have been down there like a shot. The distance between us seemed intolerable, and from the knot in my throat, I didn’t see how I could live another second without touching him, finding out if his hair was as soft as it looked or what he smelled like. I wanted him in a way I never had before. In high school, I had a boyfriend who played basketball, and we broke up when I left the state. It was a rational decision, and I didn’t miss him that much once I was gone. My freshman year, I went out with a lot of different guys, one date here, two dates there, but I never clicked with anyone enough to focus on them. Sometimes there were hookups with no strings, no expectations. Classes, friends and work seemed a lot more important. The intensity of this attraction was foreign and frightening, if exhilarating. I might already be backing off if I had the faintest sense that Ty was jerking me around on purpose. Wish he didn’t make me feel this way. It’d be so much simpler if I could friend-zone him. I realized I still hadn’t touched his verbal grenade. “We all have things we’d do differently in hindsight.” “What is it about you?” he asked in a wondering tone. “Huh?” “You make me…better. Calmer.” “Like a sedative?” I snickered. It was the least sexy thing a guy had ever said to me, including a junior high squeeze who said my face wasn’t actually that bad. He laughed, too, a sheepish sound. “I didn’t mean it like that. Just…I’m worried pretty much all the time that I’m dropping the ball somewhere, about to face-plant, but when I come out here and hear your voice, everything backs off like ten steps. I can breathe again.”
