Walker sat on one of the stage steps, his chin in his hand as he spoke to the screaming crowd. “I need a volunteer for this next part.” His head raised slowly, his eyes scanning the crowd.

Keri jumped up and down like a crazy person, waving her arms and screaming his name. I laughed at her antics and sat perfectly still, not wanting to bring any more unwanted attention to myself.

Another tap on my shoulder caused my irritation to bubble as I turned to what was sure to be that annoying overly made-up stupid girl again.

It wasn’t.

I came face-to-face with a giant of a man wearing all black and holding a walkie-talkie. Intimidated, I took a half step back and looked around for Keri.

“Come with me.” His tone implied a demand, not a request, and I suddenly wondered what I’d done wrong. Who the hell was this guy? He’s not the boss of me. He’s not going to tell me to come with him and think I’ll just obey. I frowned and said quickly, “Uh. No, thanks.”

He flashed his VIP backstage pass in my face as if it were the only credential he needed. “Miss. It’s part of the show. Can you come with me, please? You’ll be onstage with Mr. Rhodes.”

Oh.

Well, s**t.

I guess he could be the boss of me, after all.

I shot Keri a surprised look before I quickly hauled off in the direction of an almost completely darkened backstage area. We walked through a black curtain before we were hit with lights and blaring music.

“I’m going to bring you onstage.”

“And then what?” I asked, suddenly nervous. Not to be around Walker Rhodes, but nervous at the thought of standing in front of thousands of screaming people with cell phones ready to record my every move.

I started to tremble. Afraid my legs wouldn’t hold me up any longer, I begged the security guy to help me out there. He smiled at me and gave me a little shove.

Thanks, you dick.

Next thing I knew, I was standing onstage, my face mere inches from Walker’s. Walker no-human-being-should-be-anywhere-near-this-gorgeous-in-real-life Rhodes.

I got fired from my last job. It's true. I know you're sitting there thinking, "Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone as amazing and awesome as you are???" And i'd love to give you a good reason, but the truth is... being This! Awesome! is clearly very scary to other less awesome people. :) So I said screw them and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing books that mean something to me is a million times better than working my ass off for someone who doesn't really care about anything other than the bottom line. My soul feels more satisfied. My heart, more full. So thank you for reading, loving and recommending the stories I write. I think you're awesome- and not only am I not scared of other awesome people, I want them on my team! Click HERE to read a post where I talk about how you all have changed my life. :)

12 Smart & Savvy Days of Christmas - Day 6

Merry Christmas! Wishing you and yours a very, merry Christmas!
Thanks for stopping by and joining in the celebration!

On the sixth day of Christmas, Stephanie gave to me...

Featured Author: Noelle Adams
Featured Book: The Sweetest Game by J Sterling
Giveways: E-books by Noelle & J

Today we welcome Noelle Adams to our celebration and we are talking about Christmas movies, reading preferences and more.

Stephanie: What Christmas movies are a must watch?

Noelle: White Christmas, Meet Me in St. Louis (it’s not just a Christmas movie, but has a big Christmas section), Die Hard, Muppet’s Christmas Carol. Yes, I have eclectic tastes! 

Stephanie: Would you rather have a winter Christmas or summer Christmas?

Noelle: I’d much rather have a winter Christmas! I spent a couple of Christmases in Florida and, while I had a good time, it just didn’t feel like Christmas. I like it to be cold and, if it snows, that’s even better!

Stephanie: Do you read outside the genre that you write? If so, what genres?

Noelle: Yes, in fact, I read outside of contemporary romance more than I read in it. My favorite romance writer writes historical (Patricia Veryan), and I love to read mysteries and fantasy. I also read a lot of classics that don’t fall into any real genre.

Stephanie: Are you from a reading family?

Noelle: Yes! Everyone in my family reads. My mother has always been a big read. She used to Regency romances, and eventually I started picking them up and reading them myself. My older sister read more as a kid than I did, and my parents still listen to audio books every time they get into the car. It definitely runs in the family!

Stephanie: When you have a new book go “live” on release date, how do you feel? Nervous, excited?

Noelle: Terrified. I’m always convinced every book I release is going to be a flop and everyone will hate it!

Noelle's All Time Favorites!

Song: Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus
Book: Jane Eyre
Movie: Meet Me in St. Louis
Television Show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Color: Red

Noelle is the author of Married for Christmas. A great romance for the holiday season. I absolutely loved it and the cover is gorgeous!

After years of dreaming, Jessica is finally getting married, but the marriage isn't exactly what she thought.

Daniel is her best friend, and she's known him all her life, but he's never gotten over losing his wife two years ago. His dream is to become the pastor of the church in their hometown, but the small-town congregation keeps balking over calling an unmarried minister. Since Daniel needs a wife and Jessica wants a husband and family, she proposes an arrangement that benefits both of them.

They can get married. They can build a life together. They can celebrate Christmas as a couple. It's fine that he doesn't love her. And it's fine that she's not exactly suited to be a small-town pastor's wife. And it's fine that she's more attracted to her sexy, brooding husband every day.

Jessica can be practical about this marriage. She knows what she's getting into, after all...

The third (and final) installment in Jack & Cassie's epic love story is here!

"It's one hell of a sledgehammer to the chest when your baseball career comes to an end. It's like you finally realize that baseball never loved you back. All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holidays missed, the birthdays passed, the memories you didn't get to make with your family ... all for what? It's not like baseball lost any sleep over you. She didn't stay awake for nights on end, trying to figure out how to make you a better player. She didn't care. Baseball's a business. A sport. A game. And as much as my entire life has been wrapped up in it, it's time to let it go." - Jack Carter

The Druids considered the mistletoe to be a sacred plant and believed it had miraculous properties which could cure illnesses, serve as an antidote against poisons, ensure fertility and protect against the ill effects of witchcraft. Moreover, whenever enemies met under the mistletoe in the forest, they had to lay down their arms and observe a truce until the next day. From this has seemingly come the ancient custom of hanging a ball of mistletoe from the ceiling and exchanging kisses under it as a sign of friendship and goodwill.

Another version, however, says that this custom, which was widespread among the Anglo-Saxons, was connected to the legend of Freya, goddess of love, beauty and fertility. According to legend, a man had to kiss any young girl who, without realizing it, found herself accidentally under a sprig of mistletoe hanging from the ceiling.

Even if the pagan significance has been long forgotten, the custom of exchanging a kiss under the mistletoe can still be found in many European countries as well as in Canada. Thus if a couple in love exchanges a kiss under the mistletoe, it is interpreted as a promise to marry, as well as a prediction of happiness and long life. In France, the custom linked to mistletoe was reserved for New Year’s Day: "Au gui l’An neuf" (Mistletoe for the New Year). Today, kisses can be exchanged under the mistletoe any time during the holiday season.

Did you kiss anyone under the mistletoe this year?
